RhodeIslandSuffrage.org is produced by FairVote Rhode Island. It is designed to be used as a resource for students, educators, and everybody interested in the history of voting.
For many people, the word "suffrage" is intimately connected with the women's suffrage movement of the late 19th and early 20th century.
FairVote Rhode Island calls this website "Rhode Island Suffrage" to demystify the word suffrage and to show that the quest for universal voting rights didn't begin - or end - with the passage of the 19th Amendment.
